We have been so fortunate to start our hockey season and want to keep it going. We’ve had quite a few questions related to COVID-19 recently and wanted to send this email to address those questions and provide guidance moving forward. Please find our protocols below for dealing with COVID that we have developed based on USA Hockey and CDC Guidelines. It’s important to remember that for most of you, these rules are for your children, but we expect Coaches and Parents to follow the same guidelines for attending practices and games.
If your player has a fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste and/or smell, vomiting, diarrhea, or showing any COVID symptoms, they must be free from all of these symptoms for 24 hours before returning to the team for a game or practice.
If your player was sent home from school due to illness, they should not come to a game or practice the same day and not return until they are symptom-free for 24 hours.
If your player was told to quarantine for any amount of time from school due to contact tracing, they should not be at a game or practice for the same time as the school quarantine.
If your player had a COVID test, the player may not go to a game or practice while awaiting test results.
If your player had a Negative COVID testwithout having closecontact with someone diagnosed with Covid they may not play in a game or practice until you have given a physical copy of the Negative COVID test results to your Parent Manager and they have been symptom-free for 24 hours. The Parent Manager will then give them to a GNH Warriors Executive Board Member.
If your player had a Negative COVID testafter having close contact with someone diagnosed with Covid, they may not play in a game or practice until you have given a physical copy of the Negative COVID test results to your Parent Manager and14 days have passed since their last exposure to the person diagnosed with Covid. The Parent Manager will then give them to a GNH Warriors Executive Board Member.
If your player had a Positive COVID test you must immediately notify Dennis Mastriano President of GNH Warriors, at [email protected], in addition to the other notifications you should be doing per CDC recommendations. We will maintain confidentiality in accordance with theAmericans with Disabilities Act (ADA)and other applicable laws and regulations. Dennis will in turn notify Chuck Wilkerson, CHC President, and Amy Landino, CT Player Safety Coordinator in addition to the teams impacted.
If your player had been in contact with someone that has tested Positive for COVID you must let your Coach and Team Manager know and the player should have a COVID test.
You can find additional information on how these guidelines were developed atUSA Hockey Returning to Rinksand theCDC Youth Sports Guidelines. Please adhere to these guidelines so we can keep all of our players and family’s safe and healthy.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

It is with great sadness the GNH Warriors program says goodbye to Dan Kelly. Dan will be remembered as a loving Husband, Father, Coach, and Friend. Dan passed away Monday, September 28th, 2020 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Dan is survived by his wife Michelle and four boys Daniel, Ethan, Matthew, and Rocco. Daniel played goalie for the Warriors Bantam A team while Mattew and Ethan currently play for the Warriors PWA team. Their youngest son Rocco was coached by Dan and Michelle on the West Haven Squirt A team. Dan grew up at the West Haven ice rink and has been involved in coaching for years. He loved coaching and supporting his boys as they play the game they love. Dan will be missed greatly by everyone around the rink. Here is Dan’sobituary.
