SHELTON – Enfield never let up in winning its Class L boys’ volleyball semifinal 3-0 over CCC rival Glastonbury on Tuesday.
The No. 2 seeded Eagles won the first two sets, 25-6, 25-12. Pressed in the third game, Enfield won out 25-17.
No. 1 Darien met No. 4 Trumbull in the second semifinal.
Setter Alvey Blier had 37 assists. The senior used all options available to steer Enfield’s hitting attack.
Drew Rancourt (13 kills), Tyler Simmons (8 kills) and John Bellafronte led the outside hitters. Andrew Herron (10 kills) and Fritz-Carly Andre earned points in the middle.
Glastonbury couldn’t find traction with serve. The Guardians didn’t add a point after stepping to the stripe in the first two sets.
Rancourt took a 6-3 lead after a Herron block earned a side out to 12-3 with a six-point run in serve.
Blier added another six points from the line. Andre and Simmons put down kills. Bellafronte added a block. It was 23-5 after a Blier ace.
Rancourt’s kill ended the first set.
Game two followed the same trend. An Andre ace led to set point at 24-12.
Liam Scales was Glastonbury’s most efficient hitter. The senior finished with 10 kills and had help in the third set. Eric-John Rose and Ryan Hoffman used their length to win points at the net. Peter Sposito, Ryan Barcikowski and Charles Tennyson play on defense led to extended rallies.
