The St. John’s High golf team has eight golfers from Worcester CC. Seniors Brendan Maykel and Jacob Mrva, junior John Pagano and sophomore Matthew Quinn are among the 12 students on the varsity. Sophomores Bobby Blute and Angelo Molinari and freshmen Justin Maykel and Robbie Cotter are among the 20 who play for the junior varsity.
“That’s why these kids are at a high level,” St. John’s coach Sean Noonan said. “They’ve always had a great junior program up there, and it’s a hard, very difficult golf course. They’ve probably been playing golf since they could walk.”
St. John’s varsity also has six golfers from two other fine private country clubs, three from Pleasant Valley CC in Sutton, senior Jack Hester and juniors Sean and Liam Tenney, and three from Oak Hill CC in Fitchburg, seniors Ethan Whitney, Ray Dennehy and J.P. Ceryanek.
