The Vikings Culture & Atmosphere:
Our unique culture and atmosphere is what makes the Vikings Baseball Program the top character building program around. Continually acknowledged for producing the most responsible, well rounded, and talented student-athletes in the New England area. We focus on associating ourselves with quality people our coaching staff, our players and parents. Our positive, high energy atmosphere molds our players to focus on the things they can control. We also put and emphasis on strengthening both our players physical and mental skill sets. Our players mental toughness is expanded on to deal with failure while building our players self esteem and team first approach.
We Train Professionals:
Our Coaching staff has adopted the mindset that we are training the American youth to become professionals. Yes, not all our players will become professional baseball players. However these young men will be held accountable and taught the strongest core values that will benefit them once their professional careers begin! It is a privilege to have the opportunity to mentor our players well past their graduation of the Vikings Baseball Program and into their next phases in life. Our Vikings will all become professionals in whatever field they choose
“Playing the game of baseball ends for everyone, but the game of life will continue on, that’s why building character is so important to us”
Team Preparation (Practices & Meetings):
Our Vikings practice plans set us apart, using the professional playing experience from (Mike Giardi – Yankees, Expos & Mike Gallo – Washington Nationals) and the rest of our coaching staff to create them (all our coaches have collegiate playing or coaching experience). Our practices are high energy, efficient and detail oriented. Our Team Meetings give our players the competitive edge. These Team Meetings consist of: Mental Side of the Game, Expectations & Priorities, Connect as a Team, X’s and O’s, film study, etc.). We are also re-introducing our 1 on 1 (player & coaching staff) Meetings which will help accelerate and encourage each individual players growth.
Zero Parent Involvement:
On top of our Program Director Marc Crovo attending all the team practices and meetings we hire 2-3 professional coaches per team. All non-parents, this separates us from all our competitors and creates a pure and clean atmosphere which is best for player growth and learning. This dynamic is a huge advantage for our players, and guarantees our coaches display the highest integrity and zero bias.
We Encourage Multi Sport Athletes:
We have always and will remain to promote, and encourage multi-sport athletes to join our program. We have two major policies in place that support this:
1. During our seasons, if you miss one of your teams practice (due to an in-season sport, game/practice) you are encouraged to attend any other team in the programs practice (that better fits your schedule) to make up for the missed reps.
2. Our Vikings Winter Workouts display a variable schedule from week to week, the night or day time of the practices change allowing it to better fit your fixed in-season sport schedule.
Competing against other teams is a great way to watch our team progress and develop as the season goes on. We create a positive environment and realize that games are won and lost in the clubhouse first. We approach the game of baseball as a game of opportunity and manage our players emotions first and in game strategy second. We look for a winning attitude, winning effort and super teammates, we focus on the process and the results are what they are. Playing time should not be an issue as we over-communicate with all players and do our best to even out playing time. All our Vikings teams compete in the New England Elite Baseball League.
Vikings Blue Collar Approach:
Each practice one player per team can earn the Vikings Hard Hat. This black hard hat with the gold Vikings V, is a symbol of our work ethic. Our players display the highest compete level each practice/team meeting and game to earn the Vikings Hard Hat, competition breeds excellence and this is one way that we eliminate any complacency in our program. “If you like working hard for others then you will earn the hard hat”
*Last year we posted the picture of each Vikings Hard Hat winner on our social media pages & the kids had a blast with it.
Communication – Weekly Newsletter & Team Group Texts:
Our Vikings weekly newsletter goes out beginning of every week to remind each team what their schedule is that week and the week ahead as well. On top of that we also have upgraded to a team texting app that will allow us to group text our players and parents together and separately for top notch line of communication.
Our Vikings youth travel teams will attend competitive in state tournaments, in years past it has been the Dan Duquette Memorial Day Weekend Tournament.
Our Vikings High School teams will attend New England Region College scouted tournaments, such as but not limited to: the New England Baseball Complex (in Northborough MA), & The Providence Slugfest (in Providence Rhode Island).
*Our Tournament Schedules are typically announced in December.
– Depending on age group/length of season we play between 25-40 game schedules.
-When we get outdoors, our practice schedule is a minimum of 1 practice a week, but very often we practice 2 or 3 times a week with 2-4 games on the weekend as we play doubleheaders on most Sat. & Sun.
